[NYC] Sat. Sept. 22, 2012: Jeff Price Speaks: Exclusive Press ...

TuneCore founder and former CEO, Jeff Price will be making his very first public appearance since the news broke about his departure from from the company in an exclusive in-conversation session at the Shocklee Innertainment Panel Series at IMSTA FESTA on Saturday September 22, 2012 at Noon Sharp at the SAE Institute in New York City.

Jeff Price announced his exit from TuneCore on August 15, 2012 in an open letter on his blog, a company he founded in January of 2006 which is currently the world?s largest music distribution and publishing administration entity in the world. According to Jeff Price, ?As of July, 2012, TuneCore artists represent over 4% of all US gross digital music sales revenue and have sold over 610,000,000 units of music generating over $310,000,000 in gross music sales. More than four songs a second are sold on iTunes somewhere in the world by a TuneCore artist. Through the execution of the vision and the trust of the artist, TuneCore achieved about 40% of the market share of EMI and 25% of the market share of Universal in regards to digital music sales in the United States.?

Over the years, we have admired Jeff?s work within the music industry and we have run into him at several conferences and events where he passionately speaks out on various issues of importance to independent artists and labels. In fact, in 2011, we invited Jeff to be our special guest keynote speaker where he shook up the audience with his presentation, The Shift To Streaming ? How To Make Money From Your Songs: The Six Legal Copyrights That Drive The Entire Music Industry. In 2012, in light of recent developments, we are especially looking forward to hearing what Jeff has to say in this very special press conference and Q&A about TuneCore where he will also touch on some current key issues surrounding the music business.

About Jeff Price, Founder and former CEO of TuneCore, Co-Founder spinART Records:

Jeff?s previous work includes, co-founding New York based independent record label spinART records, the first record label in the music industry to offer its catalog of releases via paid download as mp3?s in 1991. During a 19-year tenure, his label was in strategic relationships with Sony, Warner Bros., Sire, Polygram Music Publishing and others.

From 1997 ? 2001 Jeff Price worked with EMusic serving first as a consultant, next as interim VP of Content Acquisition and finally as the Senior Director of Music/Business Development. He contributed towards the creation of EMusic?s initial business model, played an active internal team role in EMusic?s successfully completed $30MM private placement in March 1999 and $90MM second round financing in September 1999 and created and implement the first subscription-based music sales and distribution structure.

In 2004, Jeff contributed to the founding charter and organization of The American Association of Independent Music [AAIM] ? a non-profit non-governmental trade organization representing the interests of its independent label members.

Also, at the request of a congressional panel, he supplied a written deposition in the SEC investigation of Time Warner?s failed acquisition bid of EMI and has provided a witness statement for the SoundExchange arbitration relating to the royalty rate for webcasting.
